As part of its integrated roadside vegetation management program, Georgia DOT maintenance crews have begun trimming overgrown vegetation along Ga. 211. To enhance roadway safety, trees and shrubbery will be removed along the right of way.

According to GDOT, “vegetation removal lowers the probability that a motorist will strike fixed objects in the case of an accident. In addition, side trimming prevents fallen trees from blocking the roadway.”

Portable signage and other barrier devices will be placed around the closed shoulders. Drivers should be aware that shoulder closures may occur at any point along the two lane route, and are asked also slow down and be alert near the work zone to avoid the workers and their equipment.

Pride Contracting of Bailey, North Carolina is completing the work 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays when weather allows. The project is expected to be complete by Feb. 15, 2022. Single lane closures will be permitted weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. as crews work over approximately 9 miles from mile marker 0 to mile marker 9.75.
