Dollywood’s Harvest Festival has something for everyone

Through October, you can enjoy rides, pumpkins and food made just for the season

If you’ve never seen a guitar made of pumpkins, then it’s time to drive a few hours north to Dollywood.

The amusement park in the Great Smoky Mountains is holding its Harvest Festival through the end of the month, with plenty for everyone to enjoy.

Just like the mountains Dolly Parton called home growing up, Dollywood transforms during autumn with thousands of fall flowers in red, yellow and orange. Not only that, you can also find pumpkins everywhere, with carvings that look like a sunflower field and Parton’s guitar — which plays her music.

When the sun goes down, the pumpkins light up. “A warm orange glow shines across the park, inviting you to explore a world of not-so-spooky nighttime fun,” Dollywood’s website reads. “Stroll through a forest of shimmering sunflowers, see a family of glowing frogs, and snap a memorable family photo in front of our towering Pumpkin Tree. A treat for all ages, Great Pumpkin LumiNights is the highlight of Harvest season at Dollywood.”

There’s more than just pretty flowers, however. During the festival you can grab a seat on one of the 50 rides and attractions, from soaring through the mountainside with a birds-eye view on Wild Eagle or taking a relaxing train ride on the Dollywood Express.

There are also treats for your taste buds during the Harvest Festival. The tastes of the season Three Bean Pumpkin Chili, Smoked Bratwurst with Red Cabbage Jam and Sweet Potato Poutine, washed down with Pumpkin Pie Punch. Download the official Dollywood app to find food locations and more.

Dollywood is open 10 a.m.-9 p.m. throughout the the festival. Tickets for ages 10-61 cost $84 for a one-day pass, $99 for a two-day pass (any two days within a five-day period) and $109 for a three-day pass.
