A suspect has been arrested after a man was fatally shot in the chest at a shopping center in Chamblee over the weekend, police confirmed Sunday.
Jeremiah Clanton, 31, fled the scene outside a St. Vincent de Paul nonprofit office at 2050 Chamblee Tucker Road near Buford Highway around 7:45 a.m. Friday, according to Chamblee police.
Clanton, was “known to use MARTA,” and was considered armed and dangerous, authorities said. After obtaining his photo from surveillance footage, talking to witnesses and following up on leads, police said Clanton was arrested on Saturday morning in Atlanta.
He was booked into the DeKalb County Jail on charges of murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, authorities said.
The victim died at the hospital Friday after the shooting, police said. As of Sunday morning, his name has not been publicly shared by police because his family had yet to be notified.
No other information has been released by authorities.
