Power was quickly restored to the Clayton County courthouse after it abruptly lost service Monday morning.

The courthouse closed for a few hours due to the outage and reopened in the early afternoon, officials confirmed.

A county spokesperson said officials don’t know what caused the outage. A statement from Georgia Power said the “disruption was due to a malfunction in the customer’s equipment” and referred questions to the county.

It was not clear if the jail was impacted by the outage. A county spokesperson initially told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that both the courthouse and the jail lost power. But the sheriff’s office, which at first declined to comment, later said the jail did not lose power.
