There’s nothing spooky in this year’s Halloween forecast. We can expect near-perfect conditions for trick-or-treating this evening.
Metro Atlanta is staying on trend with mostly dry weather and above-average temperatures through the start of November. The high on Halloween should climb to around 80 degrees, still 10 degrees higher than the average 70-degree high for this time of year.
“Temperatures are going to be in the mid 70s; 77 degrees as things kick off around 6 o’clock, and by 9 o’clock, we’re at 70 degrees as things kind of wind down,” Channel 2 Action News meteorologist Brian Monahan said.
Today’s low is expected to bottom out around 63 degrees.
While a few drizzles Wednesday morning broke a 31-day dry streak, according to Channel 2, it’s going to stay mostly dry for the foreseeable future. If no rain falls today, this October will be tied for the driest month on record since 1878. The only other time the area saw only a trace amount of rain for an entire month was in October 1964.
Even with no measurable rain since Sept. 29, the region has yet to experience drought conditions thanks to the enormous amounts of rain that Hurricane Helene brought. It is, however, abnormally dry in far northeast Georgia, according to the U.S. Drought Monitor. That classification is used for areas that may be going into or are coming out of drought.
The next best chance for rain will come Friday, with a 20% chance of a shower, mainly on the north side of the metro area.
A very low chance of rain, just 10%, is expected to stay with us over the weekend and early next week.
High temps will also stay in the 80s through next week.
