A shooting left a woman dead and a man injured at an encampment on Christmas Eve, according to Gainesville police.
Officers responded to the camp near Dosey Street around 4 a.m. and found one victim, identified as Ashley Marie Hill, at the scene, authorities said. She was pronounced dead.
Another victim, Marcus Robinson, 36, was taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center, police said.
Police did not share Hill’s age or detail the severity of Robinson’s injuries.
According to investigators, the suspect had already left the scene.
“With the help of witnesses and other occupants of the camp, police were able to quickly identify Demetrius Few, 37, of Gainesville, as the suspect,” officials said.
Gainesville police and Hall County Sheriff’s Office later found Few in the area and arrested him.
Few was booked into the jail and faces a charge of malice murder and aggravated assault. Police said more charges are forthcoming.
