A teenager is dead and a person has been detained after a Friday shooting at an apartment complex in Norcross, authorities said.
Officers were called to the Huntington Ridge Apartments at 2400 Windsor Woods Lane after getting reports of a person shot around 4 p.m., Gwinnett County police said. The complex is just off Buford Highway near Best Friend Park.
One person was already dead at the scene with at least one gunshot wound. On Tuesday, police identified him as 16-year-old Jose Yahir Batz.
According to police, investigators believe two people got into a dispute that escalated to gunfire. Officers detained one person but did not say how he was connected to the incident.
Homicide investigators spent Friday afternoon canvassing the complex in search of more information.
