A man has died after he was found slumped over and shot inside an SUV at a South Fulton gas station Saturday night, authorities confirmed Sunday.
A female passenger was detained at the scene, South Fulton police said, and investigators believe the gunfire started at a home on Kimberly Forest Court, located about 2 miles away.
Officers had responded at about 8 p.m. to a 911 call at a Shell gas station in the 7100 block of Old National Highway, where they found the man in a silver SUV with a gunshot wound.
The victim was taken to a hospital in critical condition but later died from his injuries, authorities said. He was identified as 29-year-old Leo Neal.
During the investigation, police determined the shooting started in the 3500 block of Kimberly Forest Court, a quiet residential street in South Fulton comprised mainly of two-story houses.

Witnesses told police that another person “involved in that incident” ran away from the area after the shooting and might have also been struck by gunfire, authorities said.
Officers established a perimeter, secured the scene and were processing both locations for evidence. Police have not shared what led to the gunfire or how the victim made it to the gas station.
The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with more information is asked to contact the department at 470-809-7300.
