A man has been arrested after he allegedly shot and killed his stepson in Gwinnett County on Tuesday, police said.

Johnny Mays Blackshear Jr., 54, of Stockbridge, is accused of killing 26-year-old Jordan Calloway, of Duluth, Gwinnett police announced Wednesday. Blackshear faces charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, officers were called to an area near Venture Parkway and Market Street regarding a person who had been shot. The area is off Pleasant Hill Road and I-85 near several hotels.

When police arrived, they found Calloway suffering from at least one gunshot wound, police spokesperson Cpl. Juan Madiedo said in a news release. According to an arrest warrant, Blackshear drove up to the victim and shot him in the torso.

Calloway was taken to a hospital, where he died.

Once investigators identified Blackshear as the suspect, they coordinated with the neighboring Walton County Sheriff’s Office, which tracked down his vehicle and pulled him over. He was taken into custody without incident, officials said.

No other details about the case have been released.
