Roswell police are searching for a man whom they believe killed his girlfriend and then dumped her body in a ditch near a popular walking trail, where she was found on Christmas Eve.
Roberto Dominguez Soto, 49, is wanted on murder charges. He is also being sought by Interpol on firearms charges, officials said.
Around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, Roswell officers were called to the area of Azalea Drive near Atlanta Street after a passerby reported seeing a possibly deceased person, officials said. The location is along the Chattahoochee River near Riverside Park and not far from St. Andrew Catholic Church.
When police arrived, they found the woman near the road and confirmed she had died, according to authorities. She was identified as Blanca Sauer, 47, of Sandy Springs.
Investigators noticed she had suffered at least one gunshot wound, and they believe she was killed at another location. It’s not clear if she died the same day.
“This is a heartbreaking situation, especially during the holiday season, and our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of Ms. Sauer,” said Roswell police Chief James Conroy, in a statement. “We are committed to bringing justice to those affected by this senseless act of targeted violence.”
