PERRY — The police here on Thursday charged a local man with murder in connection with the deaths of three women and a 2-year-old girl, all of them found slain inside a mobile home last month.
Michael James Jordan, 34, had been in the Houston County jail on charges unrelated to the April 4 killings since the day after the attacks. Detectives, however, soon afterward deemed him a suspect in the slayings of Beaulah Robinson, 82; Tuquondea Robinson, 37; Michelle Joiner, 51; and A’laoiah Joiner, 2.
The police have previously said three of the victims were stabbed and one died of suffocation.
Court documents obtained by The Atlanta Journal-Constitution last month show Jordan has a history of domestic violence encounters with one of the slain women, Tuquondea Robinson. He is believed to have been living with her at the time of the killings in violation of terms of his probation, which forbade him from going near her.
The attacks happened at the Oakhaven Mobile Home Park on Gaines Drive on Perry’s southwest side, not far from I-75 and the Georgia National Fairgrounds & Agricenter.
The charges against Jordan include four counts of malice murder, four counts of felony murder, four counts of aggravated assault, and one count of abuse and neglect of a person with disabilities.
In a written statement Thursday announcing the charges, Perry Police Chief Alan Everidge said: “We want to assure the community that this was an isolated incident, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety. This arrest is the result of the tireless work of our investigators and partner agencies, who worked around the clock to bring justice to the victims and their families.”
