The Georgia Tech defensive line picked up a big addition Saturday.

A.J. Hoffler, formerly of Clemson, announced via X, formerly Twitter, he intends to play for the Yellow Jackets in 2025. Hoffler, formerly at Clemson, is a 6-foot-4, 225-pound defensive end.

Hoffler spent two seasons with the Tigers and played in 21 total games. He made 13 tackles (1.5 for a loss) in 2024 and registered two quarterback hurries. In 2023, Hoffler made three stops over seven appearances.

Hoffler played on 256 defensive snaps this past season and had his best game of the season, according to Pro Football Focus, against Georgia on Aug. 31.

A native of Florida and a graduate of Woodward Academy, Hoffler was a four-star recruit, according to the 247Sports Composite, and reportedly had 50 scholarship offers. He finished his prep career with 90 tackles (28 for a loss), 15 sacks, one interception, one fumble recovery and six forced fumbles.

Hoffler joins punter Marshall Nichols (Nevada-Las Vegas, Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School), running back Malachi Hosley (Penn, Northside-Columbus High School), defensive ends Brayden Manley (Mercer) and Ronald Triplette (Texas-San Antonio), long snapper Luke Whiting (Florida Atlantic), linebackers Melvin Jordan IV (Oregon State) and Cayden Spaulding (Tennessee Tech, Miller Grove HS), defensive tackle Matthew Alexander (Central Florida, Buford HS), tight ends Harry Lodge (Wake Forest) and J.T. Byrne (California), wide receivers Debron Gatling (South Carolina, Milton HS), Dean Patterson (Florida International) and Eric Rivers (Florida International), offensive linemen Andrew Rosinski (North Carolina, Creekview HS) and JaKolby Jones (Copiah-Lincoln Community College in Mississippi) and defensive backs Kelvin Hill (Alabama-Birmingham, Carrollton HS) and Daiquan White (Eastern Michigan, Creekside HS) as players who plan to join the Jackets for the 2025 season.

While those 18 players announced their transfers to Tech, 16 players are have announced that they are leaving Jackets through the transfer portal. They are linebackers Jacob Cruz and Caleb Dozier, defensive backs Jayden Davis and Taye Seymore, offensive linemen Kai Greer, Patrick Screws, Corey Robinson and Jordan Brown, defensive linemen Horace Lockett, Uche Iloh and Romello Height, wide receivers Eric Singleton Jr., Christian Leary and Leo Blackburn, running back Evan Dickens and quarterback Zach Pyron.
