Colquitt County’s Tuck Gregory and Jewel Hart took home individual state titles Tuesday at Westminster as the Packers dominated the diving portion of the GHSA Swimming and Diving State Championships.
Gregory, who finished third last year, recorded a score of 757.55 to claim first place in the Class 6A boys competition. He became the sixth consecutive Colquitt County diver to win the title in the highest classification.
Gregory’s brother, Trip, finished in second place with a score of 669.55. Trip Gregory was the individual champion in 2024.
The Packers also had the fourth- and fifth-place finishers. Freshman Christopher Griffin was fourth with a score of 481.45, followed by sophomore Judson Taylor with 473.25. They helped Colquitt County jump out to the early lead in the meet’s team standings with 82 points.
Hart took first place in the girls competition with a score of 613.45. Colquitt County sophomore Kendall Deloach took third place, junior Elizabeth Hobby was fourth, and junior Maggie Strange came in sixth. Colquitt County has 80 points to lead the girls team standings.
Woodward Academy’s RJ Snyder won his second consecutive individual state title, scoring a 698.70 for first place in Class 5A. Jackson County’s Alyssa Pace was the 5A girls champion.
Other individual champions were Emanuel Pitts of East Forsyth and Brooklyn Petit of Cambridge in Class 4A, and Trevor Sewell of Holy Innocents’ and Abbey Suits of Wesleyan in Class A-3A.
Sewell survived the closest competition of the day, finishing just 3.35 points ahead of second-place Jacob Bass of Lovett and 13.55 ahead of third-place Russell Offutt of Calhoun.
Westminster of Class 4A was the only school other than Colquitt County to have two divers finish in the top three. The Wildcats’ Trevor Dempsey finished third in the boys competition, and Ella Anthony took second place among the girls.
The swimming events, which will be held at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center, will begin Wednesday and run through Saturday. Finals in 4A and A-3A, which will determine individual and team champions for the boys and girls, will be held Thursday. The finals in 5A and 6A will be conducted Saturday.
