Everyone knows about the Titanic disaster, and even if you haven’t seen the popular movie about it, you probably know about several famous scenes. The historical event still generates a great deal of interest, and visitors of all ages can experience it in a unique way at “Titanic: An Immersive Voyage.”
The experience came to Exhibition Hub Atlanta in Doraville earlier this year and will host visitors from Friday, Dec. 27-Sunday, Dec. 29 and continue through January 2025. It includes life-size re-creations of parts of the ship, a collection of artifacts, 3D views and immersive video animations that enable you to imagine what it would have been like to be a passenger on the doomed ship.
Props from the 1997 movie “Titanic” are also on exhibit, and you can even take selfies at a replica of the ship’s bow where Jack and Rose have their iconic “I’m flying!” scene.
The immersive voyage was created by John Zaller, a producer who runs Exhibition Hub Atlanta. Earlier this year, he explained the reason for his interest in this part of history to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
“For me, it’s the personal stories of the people on board,” he said. “The thing that makes it super fascinating is it’s a modern-day Greek tragedy, a mythological retelling of the human experience. It continues to teach us lessons and draws us in. We also want to capture the myth and lore surrounding the story.”
