A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash with a pickup truck on the I-285 North ramp to I-75 North during Tuesday’s morning commute, according to officials.

The collision happened around 5:30 a.m., according to the Georgia Department of Transportation. It caused snarls in Cobb County for more than three hours.

Cobb police said a 2023 Toyota Tacoma was traveling north on the Perimeter when its driver changed lanes into the path of a 2024 Kawasaki ER500. The front of the motorcycle collided with the back of the truck, causing the motorcyclist to lose control and be thrown from the bike and land in the road, according to investigators.

The truck driver was uninjured, officials said, while the motorcyclist was rushed to a hospital with serious injuries. An update on the person’s condition was not released.

Authorities did not say if chargers are expected.

The ramp reopened around 8:30 a.m., but heavy delays remained for at least another hour.
