Daniel Romanchuk won his eighth consecutive title in the men’s Shepherd Center wheelchair division race of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Peachtree Road Race on Friday, with a time of 18 minutes, 36 seconds.

This was the 50th anniversary of the wheelchair division.

Romanchuk said after last year’s Peachtree that he has been racing since he was 4 years old, and he is a two-time USA paralympic gold medalist.

Shaving a minute and one second off last year’s time (19:37), Romanchuk has been defending his title since 2017.

It will not be a surprise if Romanchuk returns next year, as he stated to the Atlanta Track Club earlier that the Peachtree Road Race always has been a highlight on his race calendar.

Romanchuk was not made available to media members Friday.
