I'm proud of my Kentucky roots, so it's in my DNA that I love boxing (Muhammad Ali), horseracing (Derby, anyone?) and the University of Louisville Cards. Sorry, bourbon lovers, I'm not much for the state's other claim to fame.
I graduated from Spelman College and Northwestern University and pledge never to go through another Chicago winter as a resident. I'm a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority (Eta Kappa Chapter) and the aunt that everyone would love to have.
I have covered a variety of beats at the AJC including small business, textiles, ethnic communities, health and lifestyles. Previously, I wrote for The Louisville Defender and The Lexington Herald-Leader.
I've been part of an award-winning team that examined the wealth gap among African Americans.
I love all animals and like most people.
Travel is my game. My favorite spots have been Peru, Greece, South Africa and Costa Rica, but I'm willing to fall in love with other locations.
I'm grateful to the people have trusted me to tell their stories. Many show the resilience of the human spirit and the forgiveness and hope found in faith.
