President Donald Trump’s short stay in metro Atlanta for an event at a Cobb County school is over, and he went back to the airport, which led to minimal delays during the evening commute.
The president landed at Dobbins Air Reserve Base shortly before 2:30 p.m. He headed to Wheeler High School, where he spoke about 30 minutes later about Trump Accounts, a new savings program for children that took effect July 4.
He left the school for Dobbins just before 5 p.m., and departed on his plane before 5:30 p.m.
Trump’s route back to Dobbins was not released, but it’s a roughly 5-mile trek from Wheeler High. The motorcade temporarily disrupted traffic. Around 5:30 p.m., lingering traffic effects were minimal.
Georgia Department of Transportation live traffic maps showed traffic picking up in the area after 5, but there were no major delays on I-75 at 5:30.
The FAA announced two temporary flight restrictions Wednesday in the areas around Dobbins. Drones were restricted within a 2-nautical-mile radius, and regional airspace was limited to approved law enforcement and military aircraft directly supporting Secret Service agents until 5:30 p.m.
