A man was found fatally shot early Friday at a southwest Atlanta apartment complex that was hit by gunfire just 24 hours earlier, police said.

Shortly before 1:40 a.m., authorities were called to the Villages of Castleberry Hill in the 300 block of McDaniel Street, just north of I-20 and east of Spelman College. Atlanta police said in a press release that responding officers were flagged down and directed to a vehicle parked in front of a building.

Inside the vehicle, officials said a man was found suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead after medical personnel arrived in the area.

The victim’s name was not released.

Around 1:35 a.m. Thursday, officers were at the same apartment complex after gunfire was heard. Law enforcement said they met with multiple residents and vehicle owners who said their apartments and parked vehicles were damaged.

After a sweep of several homes and the complex, police said they did not locate any victims but did observe damage and several shell casings. The casings were collected as evidence, authorities added.

Atlanta police have not said if the two incidents are tied. Information on a suspected gunman in either incident has also not been provided.
