One man was killed and two others were injured, including a suspect, in a Saturday shooting in southeast Atlanta, police said.

Officers responded to the 1660 block of Jonesboro Road around 12:45 a.m. regarding gunfire. There, officials said, they found a 45-year-old man and a 38-year-old man, who each had been shot multiple times.

The men were taken to a hospital, police said, but the 45-year-old, later identified as Derrick K. Lakes, died from his injuries.

A short time later, officers were called to the 1800 block of Lakewood Terrace, about a half-mile away. A 20-year-old man was found suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg and torso, authorities said. He was taken to a hospital.

Police confirmed the victims were involved in the same incident.

On Saturday night, police arrested the 20-year-old, identified as Mason Bates, who is facing murder, aggravated assault and gun possession charges in connection with the shooting on Jonesboro Road.

Bates is being treated for injuries sustained during the shooting and will be taken to the Fulton County Jail following his release from the hospital, police said.

No additional information has been provided about what led to the gunfire.
