Jelani Hamilton led five Panthers in double figures with a game-high 23 points, leading Georgia State to an 81-73 victory over Marshall on Saturday.

Hamilton had four steals for the Panthers (6-12, 3-3 Sun Belt). Jakai Newton added 13 points while shooting 3-of-4 from the field and 6-for-6 from the free-throw line to go with seven rebounds. Micah Tucker had 13 points and shot 4-for-11 (1-for-3 from 3-point range) and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line.

The Panthers, who lost to the Thundering Herd 84-80 on New Year’s Eve, used a 9-2 run over the final 1:57 of the first half to tie the game at halftime, 38-38. Georgia State then outscored Marshall 43-35 in the second half to come away with its fifth win in its last eight games after starting the season 1-9.

Wyatt Fricks finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds, three steals and two blocks for the Thundering Herd (11-6, 3-2). Landen Joseph added 15 points and two steals for Marshall. Noah Otshudi had 11 points.
