Riley Bunch is a reporter on the local government team at The Atlanta Journal-Constitution covering Atlanta City Hall. She writes about the ins and outs of the city’s government including the mayor and Atlanta City Council. She writes about how legislation and policy decisions impact Atlanta’s diverse neighborhoods and people while also keeping an eye on the impact of federal politics on a local level. Riley has a multimedia background and is a frequent contributor on the AJC’s Politically Georgia Podcast as well as a skilled photographer. She is a former policy reporter at Georgia Public Broadcasting, which she joined in 2020 to report stories at the intersection of government and daily life. Prior to GPB, Riley was the Georgia statehouse reporter for CNHI News, where she covered the general assembly, 2020 elections and statewide social issues. Some of her notable work included the lack of access to rural health care, agriculture reform, maternal mortality and care for Georgians with disabilities. Riley began her career at the Idaho Press in Boise, after graduating from S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University.
