Amazon drivers set record straight about Teamsters

As an Amazon driver, I was interested in the article about our fight to unionize with the Teamsters. Unfortunately, the company made very misleading comments in the article, so I wanted to set the record straight.

To be clear: Amazon says it is not our employer, but drivers know this is false. If we aren’t employed by Amazon, why do we drive Amazon-branded trucks? Why do we wear Amazon uniforms? And why do Amazon’s spokespeople call us “our drivers?”

Amazon denies us as employees through its network of subcontractors that it controls. It wants to avoid recognizing our Teamsters union and negotiating a contract with us.

Thousands of Amazon workers at delivery stations, warehouses and air hubs across the country are joining with the Teamsters so we can have good wages and safe working conditions.

We are demanding that Amazon recognize our Teamsters union and negotiate a contract now.

Too soon to say Democrats were wrong about Trump

A recent letter stated Democrats were wrong that President-elect Donald Trump would be a fascist and turn democracy on its ear (“Democracy was never at risk after all”). Isn’t it a little early to come to that conclusion? He hasn’t even been sworn in as president, nor have his Cabinet picks been confirmed.

Trump denied knowing about Project 2025, but many of his major picks support it or helped write it. Many are changing their story because Trump needs Congress and the American people’s support to further legislation. People, even some of his supporters, are being shocked into reality concerning his controlling or lowering inflation and the cost of living. His supporters never questioned how he would do that, understood issues such as tariffs or remembered that he increased the deficit by $7 trillion in his first term. Nor did they give any credit to President Joe Biden’s policies and economic successes.

I bet there will be “buyer’s remorse” when they don’t get what he promised during the run-up to the election. Time will tell.
